3 Ways to Naturally Fight Fatigue

May 24, 2009 – 7:36 pm

If you are sick and tired of feeling sick and tired it may be time to make some changes to your daily routine. Many people think that being tired is just a part of growing up and having responsibility, in reality though, many of us accept far more fatigue than is necessary. Although it is generally recommended that the average adult get about 8 hours of sleep you should be able to function normally on 6 or fewer hours as long as you are taking care of your body.

Don’t let chronic fatigue take over your life, the following 3 steps can help you fight back:

1. Give up caffeine.

Although it may sound odd when trying to overcome sleepiness, giving up the caffeine can break the cycle of coffee dependency.

2. Get on a schedule.

If you already know you will not be able to get the recommended 8 hours of sleep then you need to train your body to operate on less sleep. In order to do that you need to get your body on a schedule. When you follow the same routine and day and night, waking and sleeping at the same time everyday you will teach your body to be able to run on such a schedule.

3. Ensure you are getting proper nutrition.

Many times, fatigue is a result of a lack of proper nutrition in the form of deficient amounts of vitamins, minerals, and essential nutrients in your diet. Vitamin B12 and omega 3 fatty acids are the normal culprits when you are feeling tired. This is especially true of omega 3 fatty acids as most diets; even those generally considered healthy are deficient in omega 3 fatty acids.
